Billy Elliot actor to play blind boy in new musical

Billy Elliot stage star and Olivier Award winner James Lomas is to take the lead role in a new musical, playing an 18th century blind boy.

The 16-year-old will play Nicholas Saunderson in No Horizon, the story of a leading Cambridge mathematician, for five nights only near his home town of Sheffield.

Lomas has been talking to former home secretary David Blunkett for the part, in order to find out what it feels like to have sight loss.

The show opens at Penistone Paramount on July 18 and is created by Vibe Theatre.
