The spoof horror show, made by independent production Avalon Television, is only the second UK production acquired by the American network after the BBC’s hit reworking of Doctor Who.

Darkplace and the Marenghi character first came to the fore at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, picking up a prestigious Perrier Award in 2001. It was adapted for television and broadcast on Channel 4 in 2004, quickly becoming a cult hit. Meanwhile the pair are also working on a new project for the broadcaster - a spoof talkshow called Man to Man with Dean Learner.
