Chris Carmack from television’s The OC is to appear alongside Bond girl Rosamund Pike in the pre-West End run of Summer and Smoke at Nottingham Playhouse this October.
Carmack, who played Luke Ward in the first series of the US show, will take the lead role of Doctor John Buchanan in the Tennessee Williams drama.
Pike plays Southern belle Alma Winemiller and the production is directed by Adrian Noble.
Nottingham’s autumn/winter season also features the world premiere of Tracy Beaker Gets Real, the stage version of Jacqueline Wilson’s bestselling children’s book.
Scripted by Mary Morris, BAFTA-nominated writer of the Tracy Beaker TV series and the award-winning spin-off The Movie of Me, the show has original music by Grant Olding.
Other season highlights include Giles Croft directing his own adaptation of the classic Ealing comedy Whisky Galore! and two Pinter plays, The Caretaker and The Dumb Waiter.
