Bennett, who has worked on E! Entertainment News, Capital Radio, Radio 1 and Channel 4’s Richard and Judy show, will front the Saturday mid-morning slot from 10am to 1pm. Meanwhile, the broadcaster has also hired club DJ Hugh Stevenson to join the line-up presenting a Sunday night show.

Station manager Robin Crowley said: “Julian’s appointment adds extra weight to an already strong line-up on Saturdays and his profile and personality creates that added X factor and something special for the weekend. With Julian’s acid wit, no one is safe. Hugh has an excellent DJ-ing reputation and vast experience of the national and international club circuit.”

The station has increased in popularity in the past year, benefiting from the dramatic rise in listeners to digital radio.
