The Baywatch star was due to make his pantomime debut as Captain Hook but the run clashes with Simon Cowell’s new TV series America’s Got Talent, in which he is set to star.

Peter Pan producers First Family Entertainment are currently in negotiations to secure another “major star” to take on the role and hope to be able to announce a replacement soon.

New Wimbledon Theatre chief executive Karin Gartzke said: “Following our record-breaking box office success with the highly acclaimed Cinderella last year, we know that Peter Pan will build on our growing reputation as the home of London pantomime, offering the best quality family entertainment with a fabulous star-studded cast.”
