Hay Fever postponed after Dench falls ill

Published Friday 7 April 2006 at 12:30 by Nuala Calvi

West End show Hay Fever has been forced to cancel its first five nights at the Theatre Royal Haymarket, after the production’s star Judi Dench fell ill with a “bad cold.”

The Noel Coward revival, directed by Peter Hall, was due to have its first preview yesterday but will now open on April 11.

A spokeswoman for the production said ticket holders could either request their money back or see it on a different night.

Dench is set to play actress Judith Bliss in the story about an eccentric, bohemian family living in the country. She stars alongside Peter Bowles, Belinda Lang and Kim Medcalf.
