Charlotte Church to host C4 chat show

Charlotte Church is in talks to host a new chat show for Channel 4 on Friday nights.

Since big-hitting US imports such as Friend, Frasier and Sex and the City drew to a close, the broadcaster has struggled with its Friday evening schedule.

Director of television Kevin Lygo said he was committed to continuing to try new comedy and entertainment shows at the time and the production with Church was one of 15 pilots the channel was looking at.

He said: “She has a connection with the public that few people have,” Lygo said. “How fantastic if we could build a new chat show around a female, not a male comedian.”

It will be made by independent production company Monkey.
