Channel 4 has revealed its first ever podcast, part of a current affairs mini-series looking at issues that affect young people today fronted by Jon Snow.

The first show, called From Mellow to Mental and produced by ITN, explores the current controversy surrounding the link between cannabis and mental health problems. It has already been broadcast on spoken word digital radio station Oneword, which the broadcaster owns a majority stake in.

Channel 4 chief executive Andy Duncan, speaking at this week’s Oxford Media Convention, said: “We are delighted Jon has agreed to present Channel 4’s first podcast. It’s great to be creating a genuine public service offering for new users on different platforms.”

The podcast is also downloadable at channel4.com/news/podcasts, where it will shortly also be possible to sign up for the podcast of Snow’s weekly show on More4.

Head of news and current affairs Dorothy Byrne, added: “Channel 4 has never been about lecturing on the rights or wrongs and, like our TV programmes, this podcast treats the audience as intelligent enough to make their own decisions. The aim of Jon’s programme is to arm listeners with all the facts so they can make their own minds up.”
