Three BBC dramas have been nominated in this year’s Golden Globes.
Blackpool, Rome and The Girl in the Cafe are all in the running for one or more of the prestigious American awards.
Blackpool, starring David Morrissey, Sarah Parish and David Tennant, has been nominated for Best Mini-Series or Motion Picture made for television. The production, which is written by Peter Bowker, has already won two Banff Awards. Bowker said: “This is fantastic news and a total surprise. It just goes to show what I’ve always suspected - that Americans have impeccably good taste.”
Rome has been nominated for two separate awards, Best Television Drama Series and Best Actress in a Television Drama Series for Polly Walker. Meanwhile, The Girl in the Cafe by Richard Curtis received two acting nominations for Bill Nighy and Kelly Macdonald in the Mini-Series or Motion Picture made for television category.
