Strallen revealed as next Mary Poppins

Scarlett Strallen will replace Laura Michelle Kelly in the title role of Mary Poppins from Monday October 31.

Strallen, who recently appeared as Josephine in HMS Pinafore at the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, will join Gavin Lee, who continues as Bert, at the Prince Edward Theatre.

Aden Gillet will also join the cast to play George Banks and will be making his musical debut. Meanwhile, Eliza Lumley will take on the role of Winifred Banks, Sarah Flind will play Mrs Brill, Ray C Davis will appear as Park Keeper and Andrew Pepper as Robertson Ay. Rosemary Ashe will continue as Miss Andrew and Julia Sutton as Bird Woman.

The show is produced by Disney and Cameron Mackintosh and is now booking until October 2006. Press night for the new cast will be November 29.
