Performances of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time at the Apollo Theatre have been cancelled for an extra week until after January 11.
The venue had originally planned to reopen after January 4. However a statement on Nimax Theatres’ website – which owns the Apollo Theatre – confirms that all shows have now been cancelled up to and including January 11.
Audience members with tickets for these performances have been advised to contact their original point of purchase.
This follows an incident at the London venue two weeks ago in which part of the ceiling collapsed during the show, taking down some of the balcony as well.
At the time it was reported that seven people were seriously injured and around 80 were wounded.
In a statement on its website Nimax Theatre described the incident at the Apollo Theatre as “shocking and upsetting”.
It said: “Our thoughts are with the audience and staff who were in the theatre and their families.
“We’re very grateful to the emergency services for their tremendous work and to our staff who helped with the evacuation,” the statement added.
An investigation by Westminster City Council into the cause of the Apollo Theatre’s ceiling collapse is underway and results are expected later this month.
