Our House musical revived for UK tour
Madness musical Our House is to be revived in a new actor-musician version of the show this autumn.
The production will open at the New Wolsey Theatre in Ipswich on September 24, following previews from September 12, and will then tour the UK.
The cast includes Alexis Gerred, Daniella Bowen, Sean Needham, Rebecca Bainbridge, Alex Spinney, James Haggie, Dominique Planter, Lloyd Gorman and Steve Dorsett.
Written by Tim Firth with music by Madness, the new production is directed by Peter Rowe, with choreography by Francesca Jaynes and musical direction by Dai Watts. Set and costume design is by Mark Walters, with lighting design by Ben Cracknell, sound design by Simon Deacon and video design by Will Dukes and Mike Higgs. Casting is by Debbie O’Brien.
Our House's original production won the Olivier Award for best new musical in 2003. It ran for 10 months at the Cambridge Theatre and was directed by Matthew Warchus. The musical was revived for a UK tour in 2008, which opened at the Birmingham Rep, also directed by Warchus.
New Wolsey chief executive Sarah Holmes said it would be the first time the venue has toured a production of this size. She added: "It's incredibly exciting to take Our House on tour and to showcase work created in Ipswich at venues up and down the country. The combination of Tim Firth's sharp dialogue and well-loved Madness songs is irresistible and we believe the actor-musician treatment will take it into another dimension."
