Brighton Fringe has reduced its registration prices for next year’s festival with more than a 15% saving for charitable organisations.
Charities will pay £126 to take part in the 2014 festival, compared to last year’s fee of £150 – representing a 16% drop.
Based on last year’s figures, the event expects that around 80% of its projected total number of applicants for 2014 will benefit from a lower fee across its registration categories.
The festival has also lowered its commission rate, which it applies to all tickets sold through the Brighton Fringe box office.
It will take 6.5% on ticket sales for 2014 – a slight reduction on last year’s rate, which was more than 7%. The festival said it hopes to reduce this further in future years.
This year the festival has also received £15,000 from Arts Council England’s Grants for the Arts scheme to pilot a showcase for productions suitable for touring.
Called Window, the initiative will take place from May 2 to 7 and will also include professional development and industry networking events.
Brighton Fringe 2014 occurs over a four-week period from May 3 to June 1, 2014. It is accepting registrations until January 31, 2014. Early bird registration, which includes discounted fees, ends on December 16.

“With this in mind we have both reduced fees and are also investing heavily in arts industry development, thanks to a recent arts council grant. We are also delighted to be working with so many great partners to deliver awards and bursaries to help participants with production overheads.”
