The Stage is working in partnership with Equity and the Theatrical Management Association to launch a major, public-facing campaign aimed at supporting local theatres across the UK.
Speaking at last week’s Stage New Year Party, Stage editor Brian Attwood revealed that the three organisations were working with theatre programme publisher John Good to launch the campaign in the next few weeks.
Attwood said: “The coming year looks to be a very tough one for theatres across the country. Some local councils – most notably Newcastle – are already proposing to completely cut their arts budgets and others look set to follow suit. The next 12 months and beyond will be a very difficult time for theatres outside central London and they will need our support.
“To this end, within the next few weeks, The Stage – working in partnership with the Theatrical Management Association, Equity and John Good – will be launching a nationwide, audience-facing campaign aimed at galvanising support for our local theatres.”
Further details will be announced at the campaign’s launch in March.
