Buddy Holly musical to tour in 25th anniversary year

Buddy – The Buddy Holly Story is set to tour the UK and Ireland from next autumn to celebrate its 25th anniversary year.

The musical will begin its run at the Cheltenham Everyman Theatre on September 4, 2013 and will visit other venues including the Victoria Theatre in Halifax, Portsmouth’s King’s Theatre and Eden Court in Inverness throughout the autumn. More dates will be added for 2014.

Buddy – The Buddy Holly Story originally opened in the West End in 1989 at the Victoria Palace Theatre before transferring to the Strand Theatre in 1995 and has toured internationally since.

The show is written and produced by Alan Janes and is directed by Matt Salisbury.

Additional material and original direction is by Rob Bettinson.

Design is by Adrian Rees, with sound by Pete Cox for Thames Audio and lighting by Darren Coopland with musical supervision by John Banister.

  1. Er… Buddy opened in Plymouth on 1989, before it ever reached the West End. It was a Theatre Royal Plymouth production, the posters still testify to that effect!
