Timothy West and Prunella Scales are to be recognised with The Stage award for outstanding contribution to British Theatre at this weekend’s Theatre Awards UK.

The couple are to be recognised for their longstanding commitment to theatre outside London and were nominated for the honour by the Theatrical Management Association, which organises the Theatre Awards UK.

West and Scales will be presented with their award on Sunday October 28 at an invitation-only ceremony held at the Guildhall in the City of London, when the winners of the other award categories will be announced.

This year, for the first time, audiences have been able to vote for one of the categories at the Theatre Awards UK – the best touring production award. The public vote, which closed earlier this week, was hosted at www.thestage.co.uk and run in conjunction with The Stage.
