Opera company Glyndebourne has appointed its first ever dramaturg.

Cori Ellison, who previously worked as staff dramaturg at New York City Opera for more than ten years, will join the Sussex-based organisation this autumn.

She will take up her role on a part-time basis and will advise on specialist opera content for initiatives including programmes, publications, media and pre-performance talks and study events.

Alongside her new position, Ellison will continue her freelance work with American opera companies, conservatoires and music publications. She will also continue to work with the American Lyric Theater’s composer-librettist development program.
