Channel 4 has ordered a follow-up to its English Civil War drama The Devil’s Whore.
New World will once again be written by Peter Flannery and Martine Brant, and has been described as “a gripping story of love and loss and the human price paid for the freedoms we enjoy today”.
The four-part series is being made by Company Pictures.
Meanwhile, Channel 4 has also commissioned Home Before Dark, a new four-part drama from Abi Morgan.
The series is described by Channel 4 as an “international thriller” set in Italy, America and London, that “follows the hunt for a killer and looks at the way the internet can corrupt”.
It is being made by Cowboy Films.
