Louise Dearman to play Elphaba in West End’s Wicked

Louise Dearman is to become the first performer in the history of the musical Wicked to have played both the lead roles of Glinda and Elphaba.

The performer, who played Glinda from March 2010 until December 2011, will play Elphaba in the West End production from October 29 this year.

She said: “As an actress, you strive to challenge yourself to play as many diverse roles as possible throughout your career, and right now I feel like the luckiest girl in the history of musical theatre.”

UK executive producer Michael McCabe described Dearman as having “a stunning voice and remarkable acting abilities”.

“We have all been awestruck by the way Louise has channelled her incredible talents to inhabit this iconic role, and I’ve no doubt that audiences will be equally thrilled,” he added.
