The OperaUpClose production of La Boheme, along with new play The Man On Her Mind, directed by Bruce Guthrie, will feature as part of the Charing Cross Theatre’s autumn season.
Directed and adapted by Robin Norton-Hale, the OperaUpClose version of Puccini’s La Boheme is produced by Dominic Haddock and Adam Spreadbury-Maher, with musical direction by Elspeth Wilkes, and will run at Charing Cross from October 30 to January 5, 2013.
The new version became known as the UK’s longest continuously running opera after it premiered at London’s Cock Tavern Theatre in 2009.
Bruce Guthrie will direct the world premiere of Alan Hruska’s The Man On Her Mind, which will run from September 5 to October 27. The play will be produced by Charing Cross Theatre, with design from Emma Bailey and design consultant Tom Piper, lighting by Matt Haskins and sound from Mike Walker.
The cast will include Amy McAllister, Samuel James, Georgia MacKenzie and Shane Attwooll.
Closing the season, a new version of Dear World by writer David Thompson will run from February 4 to March 30, 2013. It will be directed and choreographed by Gillian Lynne and produced by Charing Cross Theatre.
The cast will include American actor Betty Buckley with set design by Matt Kinley, costumes from Ann Hould-Ward and lighting by Mike Robertson. Kevin Amos is the musical director and orchestration will be from Sarah Travis.
