Sky’s comedy team boosted by new appointments and promotions

Sky has bolstered its comedy team with a series of new appointments and promotions.

Head of comedy, Lucy Lumsden, today announced that she had appointed Jon Montague, former the BBC’s head of comedy in the north, as a commissioning editor.

Meanwhile, Saskia Schuster has been promoted from executive producer of comedy at Sky to commissioning editor in the comedy department, and Ben Boyer, who was previously a senior content and commissioning producer in the new media team at Sky1 and Sky Atlantic, as been made head of development for comedy.

Finally, Nicole Muldowney, who has worked at Sky for two years as an assistant to Lumsden and the broadcaster’s head of drama, Anne Mensah, becomes development co-ordinator.

Sky said the appointments have been made in line with its “increased investment into original programming”, with Lumsden’s brief recently expanded to cover comedy on all Sky’s entertainment channels, including Sky1, Sky Atlantic, Sky Living and Sky Arts.

Lumsden said: “We’ve very lucky at Sky to have such a wide remit, commissioning across a range of channels for every comedy flavour to appeal to our customers. My new team beings together a very talented group that combines varied and broad tastes, experience, differing areas of expertise and excellent industry contacts.”
