National Youth Orchestra appoints ACE’s Liz Forgan as chair

Outgoing chair of Arts Council England Liz Forgan has been appointed to the same position at the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain.

Forgan succeeds Alan Rusbridger, who held the position for eight years. She will begin the role in January 2013.

She said: “The NYO is a marvellous orchestra and a shining national emblem of youth achievement. I’m delighted that I’ll be working with Sarah Alexander [NYO's artistic director] and her team, who have driven the NYO forwards so much in the last four years, challenging young people to excel and to inspire others. The National Music Education Plan and the creation of the new music hubs provides NYO with a wonderful opportunity to connect with and inspire young musicians from all over Great Britain.”
