Lyric Hammersmith to revive O’Neill’s Desire Under the Elms

London’s Lyric Hammersmith has announced its autumn/winter season, featuring a revival of Eugene O’Neill’s Desire Under the Elms.

The production of the rarely-staged 1924 play will be directed by the Lyric’s artistic director Sean Holmes and will run from October 3 to November 10.

Holmes will also direct Morning, a new play by Simon Stephens, which runs from September 4 to 22, and the Lyric’s Christmas pantomime – Cinderella – which runs from November 24 to January 5. Cinderella will star Steven Webb and Julie Atherton.

Also at Christmas, the venue will present a stage adaptation of Raymond Briggs’ Father Christmas, in a co-production with Pins and Needles. It will run from November 30 to January 5.

In January, the theatre will also welcome back its 2006 physical theatre staging of Kafka’s Metamorphosis, a co-production with Vestuport Theatre. It will run from January 17 to February 9, 2013, with Gisli Orn Garoarsson reprising the lead role.

Meanwhile, the theatre has announced that its production of Ghost Stories will play in Moscow at the Yauza Palace from October 13.
