BBC1 has commissioned a second series of Kay Mellor’s drama The Syndicate.
Produced by Rollem Productions, the drama will return next year.
The first series followed five lottery winners and starred Timothy Spall, Joanna Page, Lorraine Bruce, Matthew McNulty and Matthew Lewis.
The second series of The Syndicate will focus on a new group of lottery winners, and has been commissioned by Ben Stephenson, BBC Drama controller, and BBC1 controller Danny Cohen.
Cohen said: “The Syndicate has been a big hit with BBC1 viewers. I’m greatly looking forward to seeing what Kay Mellor and the team dream up for a new set of lottery winners.”
Mellor said: “I am thrilled by the response of viewers to The Syndicate. I enjoyed every minute I worked on the series, from the writing of the scripts to working on set. I am delighted that Rollem Productions are able to bring a second series to BBC1.”
