Jonathan Miller to direct play for Northern Broadsides
Jonathan Miller will direct his first theatre production in five years, when he takes on Northern Broadsides’ production of Githa Sowerby’s play Rutherford & Son next year.
Miller’s most recent theatre production was the 2008 staging of Hamlet at the Tobacco Factory in Bristol.
Northern Broadsides’ founder and artistic director Barrie Rutter will be playing the role of John Rutherford in the production. He said: “Jonathan’s delight in the play and our home venue at Dean Clough, a former mill, is very fitting for the robust domestic and industrial battle that is at the heart of Rutherford & Son. He will be the company’s first guest director – a welcome and exhilarating influence.”
The production will open at the Viaduct Theatre, Halifax from Friday 8 February 2013 and will then tour the UK.
