Backbeat is to close in the West End in February next spring after less than six months in Theatreland.
The show, which originally ran at the Citizens Theatre in Glasgow, transferred to the West End earlier this autumn, opening on October 10. Producers announced today that it will finish its run at the Duke of York’s Theatre on February 18. It was originally booking until March 24, 2012.
The statement said that the production is due to transfer to a theatre in Toronto in summer 2012.
Karl Sydow, the show’s producer, added: “I am enormously proud to have brought Backbeat to London and look forward to working with David Mirvish to take this great production to Canada next year.”
