Catherine McCormack to make RSC debut

Catherine McCormack is to make her Royal Shakespeare Company debut in The Heresy of Love, a new play by Helen Edmundson.

McCormack will play the central role of nun and playwright Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, the writer of The House of Desires.

McCormack has previously appeared on stage in The 39 Steps and A Doll’s House directed by Peter Hall. Her film credits included Braveheart and Spy Game.

The Heresy of Love will be directed by Nancy Meckler and designed by Katrina Lindsay, with lighting by Ben Ormerod.

It will run from February 2 to March 9, 2012 at the Swan Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon.
