Elizabeth Davis

Oscar-winning actress Estelle Parsons is to make her West End debut in Ira Levin’s thriller, Deathtrap, which will open at the Noel Coward Theatre on September 7.

Parsons, who won her Oscar for playing Blanche in the 1967 film Bonnie and Clyde, will star as Helga ten Dorp and has recently appeared in August: Osage Country. She is perhaps best-known for her performance as The Mother in Rosanne.

The cast will also include Simon Russell Beale as Sydney Bruhl, Jonathan Groff as Clifford Anderson and Claire Skinner as Myra Bruhl.

The production will be directed by Matthew Warchus with design by Rob Howell and original music by Gary Yershon.

Deathtrap holds the record for the longest running comedy-thriller on Broadway and was made into a film in 1982 by Sidney Lumet, with Michael Caine and Christopher Reeve in the starring roles.
