Actor James Aubrey dies

Actor James Aubrey, who appeared in the original series of A Bouquet of Barbed Wire, has died aged 62.

The performer made his acting debut as a child in a stage production of Isle of Children in 1962 and also appeared in the film version of Lord of the Flies in 1963, playing Ralph.

Aubrey went on to train at the Drama Centre in London and subsequently appeared in numerous television and stage productions, including playing Gavin in A Bouquet of Barbed Wire for LWT, which is currently being remade for ITV.

He performed with the Royal Shakespeare Company from 1974 to 1975, and also worked with the Birmingham Rep.

His stage credits included Loot at the Royal Court, directed by Albert Finney, and The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, at the Royal Exchange in Manchester.

Aubrey’s television credits included Dalziel and Pascoe, Heartbeat, Silent Witness and Minder.
