David Tennant is to star in a new four-part drama for BBC1 about a man struggling to raise his children after the death of his wife.
Single Father is being made by Red Production Company and has been written by Mick Ford, whose credits include William and Mary.
Tennant, who previously worked with Red on Casanova, said: “I feel very lucky to have been sent this script. When I read what Mick Ford had written I was desperate to be part of this project.”
Nicola Shindler, executive producer, said Tennant would bring “the emotional connection, warmth and humour that Single Father needs”.
The series was commissioned by BBC controller of drama commissioning Ben Stephenson and BBC1 controller Jay Hunt.
