The stage version of The Shawshank Redemption, currently playing at the West End’s Wyndham’s Theatre, is to close almost three months earlier than originally planned.
The show premiered in the Gaiety Theatre in Dublin earlier this year before opening in London on September 4.
It was due to close on February 14, however will now end its run on November 29. It will embark on an UK tour next year, which will culminate in Dublin.
The play by Owen O’Neill and Dave Johns is based on the 1982 Stephen King novella Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption, which was made into a film in 1994.
The cast of 20 is led by Kevin Anderson & Reg E Cathey. Other cast members include Geoffrey Hutchings, Mitchell Mullen, Joe Hanley, Diarmuid Noyes, Shane Attwooll, Geff Francis.
The Shawshank Redemption will be replaced in the Wyndham’s by the current West End revival of An Inspector Calls on December 3, where it will run for three months.
Stephen Daldry’s multi-award winning production of the JB Priestly thriller opened at the Novello Theatre on September 22.
The cast is led by Nicholas Woodeson as the Inspector, alongside David Roper, Sandra Duncan, Marianne Oldham, Robin Whiting, Timothy Watson and Diana Payne Myers.
