Online teen soap unveiled by BBC

BBC Switch, the Corporation’s multi-patform teenage strand, is to launch an online soap opera called The Cut.

The series, which will be shown in five-minute episodes online and have a weekly omnibus on BBC2, will launch later in the year,

It has been developed by BBC Switch with EastEnders writer Al Smith, in collaboration with the producer of Bebo’s KateModern, Pete Gibbons, and director Sarah Walker, whose credits include Hollyoaks.

BBC Switch head Geoffrey Goodwin described the story of The Cut as “fast paced and relevant to young audiences”.

“This series reflects the way many young people want to consume content. We’ve united top British writing talent with the freshest and newest interactive ideas to make appointment to view content for soap loving British teens,” he said.
