Weisz to star in A Streetcar Named Desire at the Donmar

Rachel Weisz is to star as Blanche DuBois in a revival of A Streetcar Named Desire at the Donmar Warehouse next year.

The Tennessee Williams play will be directed by Rob Ashford, the choreographer turned director who was behind the Donmar’s recent production of Parade. Further casting has yet to be announced for the show, which will open in July.

Weisz was last seen on stage in London in the Almeida’s 2001 production of Neil LaBute’s The Shape of Things. In 1999, she has also starred in a staging of Williams’ Suddenly Last Summer in the West End.
