All credit to the Arts Theatre for tackling the kind of politically charged subject matter more usually associated with the Fringe than the West End. Writer/performer Nichola McAuliffe's dramatisation of her Daily Mirror journalist husband Don Mackay's fight for the freedom of a British man on death row in Pakistan - first produced for the Pleasance at the Edinburgh festival - is a far cry from some of the escapist froth you can see only a few blocks away. Yet blessed with a sense of humour as well as a sense of purpose, scenes between McAuliffe (who plays herself) and her husband often have more in common with a domestic marital comedy than a po-faced human rights drama. While the crusading duo's good-natured banter can feel overly scripted, it is warmly conveyed and contains some great lines...
