This original telling of the Cinderella story places Ella (Laura Riseborough) in Newcastle in the 1780s, the daughter of a successful glass-maker and stepdaughter to horribly snooty Londoner, Augusta Snifflewick. This is just one of the satisfying ways in which the classic story is reworked. Another is Prince Hubert's (Will Featherstone) obsession with hot air balloons - the arrival of the balloon on stage bringing the greatest thrill of the evening...
