Keith Burstein's Manifest Destiny was first produced at London's Tricycle Theatre in 2004, followed by a revival at the 2005 Edinburgh Festival Fringe. For this minimalist OperaUpClose production the score has been reworked, as has Dic Edwards' libretto. Its subject matter concerns Islamic suicide bombers and America's war on terror, the title referring to the early 19th century right-wing American belief in US expansion. For this revival, coinciding with the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, it has been retitled Manifest Destiny 2011...
