Based on Anthony Burgess's 1962 novel, this new adaptation weaves music and song through an often violent narrative to tell the story of the imprisonment, treatment and ultimately redemption of an ultra-violent young man. This was never going to be an easy task and Ed DuRante's mix of rap-lyrics and colloquialism coupled with Fred Carl's contemporary score at least pull the characters into focus but lack any musical drive or drama. Along with questionable design choices and flabby direction, the show tends to peter out rather than climax...
