I have yet to be convinced that traditional circus, with all its stupendous skills, requires a narrative, and Babushkin Sekret is not going to persuade me. Set in 1927, it is inspired by the legend of The 12 Chairs, in which family jewels are hidden from the Bolsheviks inside a chair. But after the opening ten minutes, this story is largely forgotten until Sasha Doktorov's precarious chair-balancing number...
