Premiering last year at the Lowry, Feelgood Theatre's adaptation of Mende Nazer's autobiography, Slave (which she co-wrote with Damien Lewis), not only highlights that modern-day slavery exists, but that it's happening on our doorstep. Snatched from her home in the Nuba Mountains of Sudan, 12-year-old Mende is abused, stripped of her name and forced to work for a family who feed her scraps and locks her in a shed every night, before sending her to work for their relatives in London - a similarly abhorrent, yet outwardly respectable couple...
