Inspired by Roy Porter's study, Flesh in the Age of Reason (FAR), which examines 18th-century scientific and philosophical inquiries into the relationship between body and soul, Wayne McGregor's latest work has a formal simplicity that is immediately engaging. Uncluttered by the technological paraphernalia of some of his recent productions, the stage is dominated by a huge screen that lights up in a series of variable permutations. Beneath the screen, the minimally-clad dancers enact a series of relationships in ones, twos and threes in the distinctive McGregor style - spines undulating like Mexican waves, fast and ferocious upward extensions, dislocated movements of the upper body and head...
