Kate Lawrence is a successful television presenter. Fran Jones is a would-be politician on the campaign trail. Kate invites Fran to appear on a panel discussion dealing with gay marriage in New Zealand, but though they clash on air, after the show they find they are drawn to each other and a tentative relationship begins...
