It is easy for a drama set in the ever-popular Second World War home front scenario to fall into the trap of cliched dialogue, attitudes and familiar characterisation. However, writer Stephen Lowe has cleverly avoided all such pitfalls, presenting a piece that evokes a convincing period atmosphere laced with believable personalities who speak naturally. And he is not afraid to express the prejudice and simple philosophy of less enlightened times, whilst retaining the charm of an era which so many of us look back on with affection...
