On the same Paige

Published Monday 8 March 2010 at 17:55

In defence of Miss Elaine Paige, and as a professional artist myself, I must comment on the letter by Bill Ayres (“Rage at Paige”, Stage Talk, February 25, page 9), who obviously thinks Susan Boyle is as good as the multi-talented Elaine Paige.

I must point out to Mr Ayres that Paige said exactly what all professionals think. Susan Boyle could never be a proper professional entertainer. For a start, she could never do eight to ten three-hour performances a week and never sustain a lifelong career at the highest professional level.

Miss Paige also indicated what all actresses and TV presenters should realise - over 60 means over the hill, means too old.
