Bringing it to the Boyle

Published Monday 8 March 2010 at 17:55

I agree with what Bill Ayres wrote about Elaine Paige (“Rage at Paige”, Stage Talk, February 25, page 9). Her remarks about Susan Boyle were unworthy of her - unlike Miss Paige, Susan Boyle hasn’t had the help of someone like Tim Rice.

In the text of her new “live” album, Miss Paige writes: “I can’t believe it’s taken so long for me to make a live album. I’ve wanted to for so many years, but only now does it feel right.”

Well Miss Paige, you should have left well alone - this is the worst ‘live album’ I have ever heard. The songs of Edith Piaf were a mock impersonation, unlike the show Piaf you played so well, and don’t get me started on the closer, With One Look.

A little more grace in old age is called for - give me Susan Boyle any day.
