Dame June soon?

Published Tuesday 15 December 2009 at 10:40

I enjoyed reading the interview Nick Smurthwaite did with June Whitfield as much as the hour when she shone at the Cheltenham Literature Festival in October. Coming on to the town hall stage, she did a little bow to us and from there on we were as putty in her hands.

It was a pleasure to listen to such a delightful person who must have worked with every well-known British comedy actor since the fifties. With her skill, she so easily reminded us of well-known faces and voices with just a look or a few lines.

A national treasure indeed - may it be Dame June at the earliest possible date.
