Factor in am-dram positives

Published Monday 30 November 2009 at 18:00

I felt prompted to write in the light of the recent balanced articles in The Stage about amateur theatre and then having seen Simon Cowell on The X Factor on Saturday night, who described Lloyd’s performance as being “like something from an amateur dramatics production”. I would like to take this opportunity to invite Simon to join me at a production by a NODA member society at a time and place of his choosing to help him get a better appreciation of amateur theatre, as his remarks on Saturday sadly reinforce some prejudices that amateur means of poor quality, when in reality there are many positive aspects of amateur theatre on view throughout the UK.
