The letter from Mr Tudor Williams (Letters, October 2, page 8) about his forlorn hope of seeing Tommy Trinder when he was in London on embarkation leave reminds me that when I was stationed in Norwich in 1944, the Servicemen’s NAAFI Club put on a special evening. It had a raffle which I won, resulting in me dancing with the fabulous Jessie Matthews. The tune was, of course, “Over my shoulder goes one care”. The lady swept me off my feet.
