Showing support

As a regular weekly subscriber to The Stage, I am really disappointed of late with the constant critical remarks regarding Andrew Lloyd Webber and his West End shows (Chit Chat, page 9, September 25).

This is a man who has done so much for musical theatre and for many young people in the industry. He has also given many people from all walks of life a lot of pleasure through his music and theatre productions.

Myself and my friends have been to see Joseph at the Adelphi quite a few times over the past 15 months. We have been on week nights as well as weekends, and assure you that Andrew Lloyd Webber does not have to give away free tickets to fill the theatre, as each time we have visited the theatre it has been packed out, not a seat to spare, with everyone, of all ages and backgrounds having a fantastic evening or afternoon.

So please, how about your newspaper congratulating this genius of a man and his fantastic shows, especially Joseph and the amazingly talented leading man Lee Mead. Let’s face it, to be able to fill a theatre to brimming after 15 months from opening night is more than proof of the show’s popularity.
