Embrace or withdraw

There’s one major snag with Ewan Spence’s vision for Eurovision (September 11, page 11), the BBC is only one of its 120 members and the Song Contest is not a BBC production.

There are, of course, two solutions to the perceived anti-British bias - withdraw completely (like Italy) or participate more fully in Eurovision by showing us at least some of the 15,000 hours of programmes it broadcasts each year - apart from the Song Contest which appears to be the only one the BBC co-operates on - and unless the BBC admits to this, the introduction of national juries will have no effect whatsoever.
