Since the death of Gene Pitney, I have been keeping his music and name alive by performing a tribute show of Gene’s music throughout the UK. I have been involved with Maurice Merry on two shows and have other shows with him coming up.
As you might know, Maurice was Gene’s MD for 36 years, and it as been a great honour for me to perform a Gene Pitney tribute show with Maurice in the memory of Gene. I have been invited to Rockville, Gene’s home town, in Connecticut, USA this October to perform for the Gene Pitney convention on October 4 and 5, to take part in a parade to commemorate the town’s 200th anniversary. Gene took part in the 150th anniversary.
There are many UK fans going and many other nationalities as well, as Gene was a worldwide star. I am very proud to be asked to do this, and would like to thank all those who have made this possible. This includes yourselves, as I was able to appear on The Stage Showcase a few years back, performing as Gene Pitney, and this helped in getting me noticed.
It would be nice if you could give Gene a little mention as he was too big a star to be forgotten and he never let his fans in the UK down. I hope to continue as long as I can in this endeavour.
